Having a garden at home is something that almost all of us wish for. The apartment lifestyle, very less outer space are some of the reasons why we are unable to set up a garden in the open front or in the back yard. But don’t worry because you can get an indoor garden with ease. Yes, setting up this indoor garden is very simple and can be done by any person with ease. I have seen so many people setting up a garden near the windowsill; this is also a great idea. However, having an entire indoor garden at home isn’t a cakewalk. This is the reason why I have compiled the factors that you should consider while setting up the garden.
The amount of space that you have in the house is important here. If you have a good amount of space with great lighting, then you can go with some big plants, if not small plants will also do. You can set them up on the windowsill, study tables, in the halls and in bedrooms too. You can set them up in shelves too but ensure that the plants receive enough lighting.
The one thing that you have to remember here is to put the plants on tile or linoleum floors. They will observe the water. You can place a tarp too.
The main issue with indoor garden is the lighting. The lights that you have set up on windowsill also face trouble in winters. They also thrive for light. Without performing photosynthesis, the plants won’t work properly. So, it is better for you if you get a growth light. Yes, you can find growth lights in market. They help in providing the required light for the plants.
The best temperature for plants to grow up is 65-75-degree Fahrenheit. It can be managed with +/-10 degree Fahrenheit, anything more than that makes plant weak and less than that makes leaves yellow in color. These yellow colored leaves fall off easily. So it is important for you to maintain the perfect temperature if you are going with the indoor garden.
The main issue that indoor garden faces is with humidity. The winters may be drier when compared to summer, and the main reason for this is the heat machines. Most of the houses run heat machines in winter, and this reduces the humidity that has been accumulated in the air. So, it is important to have control over this humidity.
It is better if you invest in an environment dehumidifier, which reduces or increases the humidity in the air according to your requirements.
These are just basic factors, but there are a lot more things that you have to know before getting an indoor garden. It is going to take sometime to get all the things in place, but once you are done, you will have the perfect garden. It would be great if you visit a gardening specialist once to know more about the indoor garden setup. You will get a lot of tips and suggestions. Apart from that, do good research about the plants that you are planning to bring in.
